I'm new to the site but have been active with home computers since pre-Altair days. I've been blithely going along on my SWTP 6800, IBM 8080, 286, 486, etc but today I faced the dreaded fake Microsoft Security Essentials pop-up on my home wireless system.

I have all three computers on my wireless home system protected by TrendMicro, but even that won't stop the dreaded "accept" or "yes" click. My husband apparently let the danged thing in and I've been going through h--l trying to protect the rest of our computers while trying to get the darned thing off DH's.

I should have just gone to Malwarebytes. Instead of hours, I could have had it done in minutes! So thanks, guys!!!

And DH learned a good lesson that many casual users can take to heart: "You may THINK you know what you just clicked,but it pays to verify it!"
