.jpeg exploit virus

Recommended Posts

so i downloaded a program today to help me with studying for university i herd it was prety good, its called anki, i loaded it up and downloaded a pack of cards( its basically a flash card type program to help with memorization) in the program itself it was obviously connected to a server were people could upload packs of flash cards, immediately after avg picked up on a threat then another then another it just couldn't keep up, all threats were in my pictures folder, i opened it up and there were hidden folders created with the names of all my pictures in the folder, thankfully i didnt have much, but all the folders seemed to be filled with duplicates of the pictures the folders were named after, im wondering if anybody knows about this, i manually deleted them because of avg's inability to keep up and it seemed to go away, im running a full system scan now. is there any cause for alarm or is it likely i got it?

i got windows defender, malwarebytes-free, and avg-free if that helps at all

Hi -

Sorry that you seem infected - Please post only the Malwarebytes scan results here and we will help you -

EDIT -

The ANKI site 'seems' normal , but your problem could also have to do with the fact that much of the program is Japanese based -

There may also be a language conflict in your system ??

Thank You -

Registry Data Items Infected:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_ShowSearch (Hijack.StartMenu) -> Bad: (0) Good: (1) -> No action taken.

thats what it says, should i get rid of this? what does the Good: (1) mean?
