Cannot Run/Remove/Update Adobe Reader

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this same issue or if there is known malware that causes this to happen.

I currently have Adobe Reader 9.3.4 installed and it has worked fine until about three days ago; no changes to the system or program were made recently.

Here's what happens:

When I try to open Reader (a PDF document, a document in a web browser, or the application itself) I get the following message:

The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

When I try to uninstall Adobe Reader in order to do a fresh install I get the following:

Preparing to remove...

Fatal Error: Acrobat failed to load its core DLL.

misiexec.exe: msiexec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Finally, when trying to reinstall the latest version of Reader the download and installer claim success, but various error messages arise.

Thank you for any information or support you can provide.

Description: - Please note that any file can become infected at any time -

msiexec.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32 or sometimes in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files". Known file sizes on Windows XP are 78,848 bytes (83% of all occurrence), 77,312 bytes, 71,680 bytes, 63,488 bytes, 64,512 bytes, 95,744 bytes, 211,968 bytes, 99,840 bytes, 73,216 bytes, 96,256 bytes, 101,376 bytes, 193,024 bytes, 87,552 bytes, 210,432 bytes, 148,480 bytes, 236,544 bytes, 90,624 bytes, 97,280 bytes, 113,664 bytes, 136,192 bytes, 89,600 bytes.

It is a Windows core system file. The program is not visible. It is a trustworthy file from Microsoft. Therefore the technical security rating is only 5% dangerous. (details from a Google search of 5 sites) - Between only 3 and 5% of cases reported it as infected , but I was looking for infections -

Have you run your A/virus program as well as Malwarebytes yet to see if anything can be detected -

Just checking to see what the current Adobe Reader version is -

9.3.4 seems to be the latest version - Unless you can find an infection our experts can review your system for you -

EDIT -

Have you tryed using the File Assassin from Malwarebytes ?? Details Here

Then you can reinstall Adobe after that -
