Please remove it and reboot the system just to make sure. Then rescan and verify that it is no longer present.

As long as there are no other symptoms of an infection such as browser redirects or popups then you should be okay. For your own piece of mind though you can run an online AV scan to get a second opinion of your own AV scan.

It can take several hours, so please be patient and allow it to run it's full course.

Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Firefox or Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner

**Note**

To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:

  • Close any open programs
  • Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan.

Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.

  • Click Run at the Security prompt.
  • The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
  • Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  • Click View scan report at the bottom.
  • Click the Save Report As... button.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply.

Please try scanning in Safe Mode with MBAM and let me know if the same is found.

If it is then can I get you to temporarily uninstall Comodo (try to save any settings or keys you may need first) and try again. We're trying to determine if it's really there or some conflict possibly with Commodo.

Reset Comodo Settings

  • Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on the Protection tab
  • Uncheck Start protection module with Windows.
  • Restart your computer
  • Open COMODO Internet Security and click on the Defense+ button
  • Click on Defense+ Settings
  • Check the box next to Deactivate the Defense+ permanently (Requires a system restart)
  • Click Yes when prompted to restart your computer
  • After your computer restarts, open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on the Protection tab
  • Check the box next to Enable protection module.
  • Check the box next to Start protection module with Windows.
  • Restart your of your computer to verify that mbamservice.exe is running and that scans no longer show this detection.

If this does not work then it certainly appears that Comodo has some type of AV or other plugin/setting that maybe keeps track of old infections or what it thinks are infections and is causing MBAM to detect it due to a conflict which we can't control. If you can find the setting to disable it or if Comodo makes an update to change it.
