Fake Microsoft Security Essentials

My daughters computer just got infected with the fake Microsoft Security Essentials malware. As per your guide, it would not let me run hardly any software. I followed your guide and renamed procexp.exe, winlogon.exe. The malware would not let me run winlogon.exe. It said it was infected. Luckily there was another account and I switched users and ran the program from the other account. I used the option, under file, to show all processes. The malware did not show up as you describe. I had to watch for a few minutes and then it showed itself. The icon was no longer a shield and the name was no longer random numbers. The name was now random letters. I could tell it was the malware because it kept running different copies of windows explorer. Once I shut it down I was able to run and update malwarebytes and get rid of the sucker. Thanks for the info. I hope this note will be of use to you and others. Thanks
