CA 2010 won't install till MWB is removed

Recommended Posts

Hi -

Try doing this fix to get around the problem , it usually works -

For CA 2010

Open 'My Internet' section.

If so open that up and click 'View Settings'.

Look for 'Identity Protection'

Scroll down to 'Trusted and Untrusted Sites'

Paste in the following:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

Tick 'Trusted Site-always allow'

Click 'Add'

Click 'Apply' and reboot

See if that helps

Thank You -

Noknojon is much more of an expert than I am, so I would definitely try his suggestions first. ;)

However, you might also try the steps suggested by exile360 when I needed to get MBAM on a system running KIS2011.

KL is rather adamant about uninstalling ANYTHING security-related before one installs their products.

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=60692 (or just search "KIS2011" if I didn't paste the correct link).

(See post #4 and beyond.)

The short version is that you might need to first uninstall/cleanup MBAM, then install CA, and THEN reinstall MBAM, setting all the necessary exclusions in the firewall and AV.

It worked for me and I am now running MBAM Pro 1.46 (with the protection module activated) happily alongside KIS2011 without any problems.

PS Also works fine alongside Webroot ISE on my laptop. In fact Webroot recently pushed out a major version/GUI update automatically (providing no clue to the user until the "restart required" prompt appeared). I figured I was in for trouble, since I had no warning to uninstall MBAM first. Happily, though, it went fine -- Webroot updated without causing any issues with the existing MBAM installation. Shocking! ;)

Hi again -

Daledoc1 has the right idea (again) ;) with needing to Uninstall MBAM first , run the Clean.exe , install your new CA Security , then add the exclusions noted above -

After that you should be able to install your Malwarebytes again without problems -

Select your O/S from below , to suit -

To Fully Remove and Reinstall a Fresh New Copy of Malwarebytes - Read Carefully

Windows XP:

  • Click on Start and select Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important !
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from Here

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

At this time you would install your CA Security, prior to re installing MBAM -

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start button and select Control Panel
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important !
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from Here

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Paid version only

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now reset any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

I think that would be the best sequence to follow -

Thank You - ;)
