Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options. Click the View tab.Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types." Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders." I am not sure, but I think I might have got rid of the virus, earlier today I uninstalled Avir as it didn't seem to be working correctly and instead downloaded avast... I then did a full scan in avast and then a quick scan in malwarebytes until they both came back with no infected objects. But I don't know if that means it has actually gone?
