Hey guys, Ive recently removed the AC Security Suite and Animalware virus's from my pc and now my Internet Explorer is giving me a Cannot display page error. I have my LAN settings correct and i did try to reset my IE. I did try to change my registry beforehand by pasting something i read in notepad. Any advice you guys have to get my Internet up and running would be great. It will not work with Modzilla Firefox either!!

OK , just saving it to your desktop isn't going to do anything, you would have to make a reg file out of it and then merge it into the registry to take affect.

------------------------

Go back an check the settings:

Open up Internet Explorer, and when the program is open, click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options.

Another way to get to your Internet Properties:

Go to your Start Button > Run > copy and paste this in: inetcpl.cpl > Click OK

Now click on the Connections

Now click on the Lan Settings Under the Proxy Server section, please uncheck the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN.

Make sure that there's no boxes checked at all on that page.

Then press the OK button to close this screen. Then press the OK button to close the Internet Options screen.

See if that works

--------------------

If not....

You didn't answer the question about a router.

But please try this:

Turn off your computer, unplug the power to your router and modem for 2 minutes.

Now plug the modem back in and let it reset

Plug the router back in and let it reset,

Now turn on the computer and see if you can get on line.

Sorry, Ive tried to LAN settings more then once restarting my computer multiple times. When i entered that information into notepad and saved it to my desktop i then opened it up which did save it in the registry. I unchecked the LAN box one time while I had Rkill running and it did work, but then for some reason afterwards it did not work anymore. I actually have 4 computers running off of the same router and this is one of the computers that is, all the other pc's dont have any issues with the internet.

Well try running rkill and exehelper again, see if it works, check the settings in IE again also.

If that doesn't work, try WinSockFix:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network...inSockFix.shtml

Download it and then run it and click the reg-backup and then the Fix button.

Let me know.

Sorry to keep bothering you with this! I ran the program you told me to download and restarted my computer but still no internet. I have a connectivity icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen now that shows limited or no connectivity. I tried to diagnose the problem and it told me it could not acquire a new IP address.

Here's a bunch of things to try and look at: (I'll be away from the forum for about 5 hours but will return)

Look in your device manager and see if there's any red, yellow or orange warnings on any of the devices, especially the network adapter.

(right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager)

-------------------------------------

Please do this also just to get it out of the way: Please do this!!!!

Turn off computer and unplug power to router for 2 minutes, now turn on router...let it reset and now turn computer back on.

-------------------------------

Try switching the cables from one of the good computers to the one that doesn't get online.

------------------------

Check the settings on one of the other computers that can connect, see if there's any differences.

You can also Google:

limited or no connectivity XP

and

could not acquire a new IP address XP

There's lots of info available.

Good luck.....be back later....MrC
