slows down computer

When the full program is running, it slows down my computer considerably. If I disable the protection part, it does not affect the computer speed, but then the program is just a clean up scanner. When I try to use it to scan a file, it takes at least 40 seconds before it starts to work. As it is, the program is almost unusable. I can tolerate not having the protection enabled,because I have another AV program which is better at protection than mbam, but mbam is the best clean up malware program I have found. I have tried remove and reinstall several times. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. esmo

FYI Malwarebytes is not an antivirus program, so it is good that you already have one. You can have both an Anti-virus program and Malwarebytes running together.

What is your anti-virus program and/or any other security software you use. You may try entering exceptions in your anti-virus program as listed below.

The firewall I use is called Private Firewall V.7. It cannot block these types of files. I disabled it and rebooted so it was not running, but that did not help. Perhaps I should try another firewall?
