malwarebytes wont open

yesturday i got the microsoft essentials fake alert virus. it wouldnt let me open any browser, windows defender or task manager, after an hour of messing around i was able to open task manager. In task manager i stoped the microsoft essentials alert process and now am able to open my web browser and from ther i was able to download and install malwarebytes free version but i can not open it ,when i click on it nothing happens no messege or box just nothing i have tried to open it useing task manager but still nothing. any help would be great thx
