Malwarebytes scan freezes at VDSLDR.EXE

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes Quick Scan and Full Scan both freeze after a few minutes at the same location. The end file is always VDSLDR.EXE.

I searched the other threads about scan freezes and have completed the following so far:

1. Uninstalled MB and used the removal cleanup tool. Went through the restarts and re-installed MB.

2. Ran disk check with both repair options checked, went through MB uninstall process again after diskcheck was completed.

My MB scans have always worked fine in the past, no idea why they always freeze now. Please advise.

Thank you

Quick update after searching more threads. I tried turning off the `heiuristics` under settings and the scan completes now. Quick scan under these settings shows no infections on the system. Is this a problem from your end and does turning off the heiuristics make the scans less effective?

Hello lavendar:

Well this is being worked on, it is difficult to give an answer as you haven't included the following:

  1. Version of Windows
  2. System locale (e.g. English, Chinese etc)
  3. Database version (current 4550)

1. Windows Vista

2. System locale is Japanese

3. I do have the current version (4550)

Thanks lavendar:

There are some known issues with different languages that included Japanese, which is being worked on. Just keep your system updated, and of course MBAM database

Be assured Quick Scan with even Heuristics Shuriken disabled will do its job. Should you have any other question(s) please post back
