Hey guys,

please bare with me! im not so good with this kinda stuff lol

ok i found a thread already posted and closed/unresolved on this with a similar problem to me

system crash

i came home after leaving my computer on and it was completely bombed with this fake anti spy ware rubbish.

i couldn't go online or run anything so i went into safe mode and ran malwarebytes on quick scan and then on full scan picking up about 24 infections in the first go and 44 on the last full scan..

though upon restarting i encountered the infamous blue screen..

then when attempting to reboot in safe mode i got a black screen and was told that Windows failed to start and

listed as follows:

windows/system32/drivers/qcpxpgjj.sys

status: 0xc0000098

info :windows failed to load because of critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

that same issue as the link i posted tho he ended up giving in and taking it to the shop!

i am currently traveling and have not backed up images i have left on the desktop.

And i dont have the windows installation disk.

is there anyway i can get my computer back to a functioning mode again???? help!

cheers

Michelle

Hello Michelle,

No backups? No image backups of system ? No Windows operating system CD/DVD?

It's quite sad that this system is not allowing you to use it. It is "aborting" because there's a leftover trace calling or "looking" for a rootkit driver, (a very bad type of malware), and it is not found.

Sad to say to "try" to get this fixed will take a lot of effort and will take moderatly Advanced knowledge and 1st-hand help.

btw, this reference --> qcpxpgjj.sys <<- is most likely a rootkit that either had been oboard, or has left traces of itself.

Without the operating system disk, this cannot be started into Windows.

One alternative would be to get a boot CD such as Ultimate Boot CD http://www.ubcd4win.com/downloads.htm

But as I mentioned, it takes some moderate to Advanced knowledge to make it and then to use it.

Whatever happens, you should ask your manufacturer or vendor for the operating system disk. If your system is relatively new, you should indeed press for it. What brand is the pc? a Dell, HP or ??? or is it a no-name OEM system?

With malware infections like this being complicated to find and remove, the fastest and safest thing (for the long term) is for you to consider wiping the disk drive and installing Windows fresh. For that, see IF this system (ask the vendor) IF this system has a hidden factory restore partition.

Which is likely if they never provided a CD/DVD.

Mind you a restore of this type, or a wipe and new install, would mean you'd loose your documents and personal files.
