MBAM DSL Disconnection

Recommended Posts

Lately, I've been having problems with my DSL disconnecting. One instance was with Super Antispyware updating and locking up as the DSL connection came back 15 minutes later. This caused me to restart the computer as SAS denies access by Task Manager and Process Explorer. I would like to know what happens if the DSL connection fails when MBAM is updating?

I have DSL, and replaced 2-3 routers with Quest. I never had a problem with starting the downloads with Malwarebytes again. Check the update tab & see if the date & the MBAM Database numbers are going up. I would run a check with your DSL modem/router. And/Or replace it if you suspect a problem. A good Surge Protector will help! I use the brand http://www.apc.com/index.cfm

just my 2 cents. maybe someone else has some comments? regards

Normally the update process will fail, and it may corrupt the database. Until we implement incremental updates, you can easily fix this by deleting the following file:

On Windows XP, 2000, and 2003:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

On Windows 7, Vista, and 2008:

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

After deleting that file, and opening Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it should inform you that there was an error loading the database, and ask if you want to download the current database.
