system restore.

;) hi everybody.when i create a restore point in windows is there any way i can tell windows to keep my restore points permanently.i create my restore points and then when i need to use them they have gone.any help would be very much appreciated.many thanks.

It's possible that there is not enough hard drive space allocated to the System Restore, and that it is deleting old restore points in order to make room for new ones.

There are two solutions for this problem:

  1. Increase the amount of hard drive space that the System Restore can use. The Microsoft article at this link gives instructions for how to change those settings on Windows 7 (the process is similar in other versions of Windows).
  2. Use some sort of backup or hard drive imaging/cloning software to save backups to an external hard drive, which you will be able to restore your computer from later on (this will require an external hard drive capable of holding a lot of data).

thanks for the good advice..i was going to use comodo time machine but apparently this program will corrupt the master boot record on a computer so im giving that a miss.
