Error Updating Malwarebytes' MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING(12002, 0, WinHttpReceiveResponse) WinHttp Receive Response

SO I have been Struggling with this for a while. My company has purchased a number of licenses for Malwarebytes and have been extremely happy with the performance.

However, we have had issues with the software not being able to update properly. This is in regards to the auto-update as well as the manual "check for updates" update.

I get the error mentioned in the title - MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING (12002, 0, WinHttpReceiveResponse).

I seem to get it on multiple PC's at multiple locations.

SO here are my specs -

WinXP SP3

Trend Micro SMB CLient Server Security Agent

Just noticed that I did not have alllllll windows updates current, so I am going to run that and see what happens.

and FWIW I am still having the issue after applying windows updates
