Need Help Reformatting External HDD from Mac to PC

I just got an external LaCie 200 Gig that was used with a Mac and I would like to reformat it to work with XP. It doesn't get recognized as a drive in "My Computer" and the only place I can see that it's there is System/ Device Manager/ USB mass storage device. Can someone help me get this drive to a usable state?

Sorry, Nevermind. Solution : rightclick my computer- manage- disk management- remove partition- new partition etc.

that is one way, but the format would have read on both computers, I use external drives and share the data between my Windows Pc and my MAC all the time, without requireing a format....
