unknown avast virus

I have already posted once to this forum about the avast virus and did what was suggested. But, nothing has worked. I was wondering about something. Even though the Avast 4 has the virus can I download another antivirus that will take care of the problem and what would that antivirus be. I have tried the malware bytes and did all that was suggested of it and it stopped working also. So, I gave up completely on it and the fixing of the Avast. I am computer illiterate and don't know what else to do. Like I said I am totally computer illiterate and when I am being instructed on some of the ways to fix things on the computer I have to be told in very simple ways and then I may still not understand the procedures. If you do try to help you will have to be a very patient person. Thank you so much in advance.

Please try this option first if you think you can -

If you know your Operating system (XP Vista Win7) can you select your version from this list and are you able to follow these instructions -

Please post back and someone can guide you step by step if it is a bit hard for you -

To Fully Remove and Reinstall a Fresh New Copy of Malwarebytes - Read Carefully

Windows XP:

• Click on Start and select Control Panel
  
• Open Add/Remove Programs
  
• Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  
• Restart your computer very important !
  
• Download and run mbam-clean.exe from Here
  

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

• Click on the Start button and select Control Panel
  
• Click on Programs and Features
  
• Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  
• Restart your computer very important !
  
• Download and run mbam-clean.exe from Here
  

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Paid version only

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now reset any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.
