Hi,

Click Start --> Programs

Right-click on the Windows Update icon and click Properties. Take a screenshot of what comes up and post it here.

Next, please open Notepad. Copy and paste the following text (starting with @echo off) into the Notepad document.

Navigate to File --> Save As..., and save the file as RegExport.bat (make sure the Save As Type is set to All Files).

Save it to your Desktop.

@echo off
REGEDIT.exe /E "%userprofile%\DESKTOP\check3.reg" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
EXIT

Now navigate to your Desktop, and double click RegExport.bat

A black window will open and close quickly. This is normal.

Now, open Notepad, navigate to your Desktop, and open check3.reg; post the contents of each.

Hi,

If you click on Start --> Programs --> Windows Update, does that launch Windows Update successfully?

Please reboot to Safe Mode With Networking (tap the F8 key just before Windows starts to load and select the Safe Mode With Networking option from the menu). Try the Windows Update link in the Control Panel and see if it loads.

Hi,

Try this please:

Please download Dial-a-fix from here.

Extract it to your Desktop.

Open Dial-a-fix and click on the box next to Fix Windows Update. Ensure that any boxes next to Internet Explorer options are unchecked, and click GO. Follow any prompts. When finished, restart your computer and try the link in Control Panel.
