Problem with I.E. on XP

Hi -

I have a problem with I.E. at the moment on XP SP3 - It will not let me type or use the Internet Options tab - This item is being done on ORCA -

It will not only refuse to let me write , but I cannot even Cut and Paste from there -

This only started about 4-5 hours ago and will not allow me normal access to here or other sites (Bleep Comp e.g.) -

By normal access I mean normal logon (recall my ID and password) and writing while using I.E. only - ORCA is fine -

It is 5.30 PM here and it began some time after mid day - To log in here is possible only if I double click the login tab and select my noknojon there -

As I have many I.D's set in here from me and other users the name is mixed up with the others - Back to Main Point -

I can open I.E. but if I click on tools > Internet Options , I only get an error message - My normal Home page is Google + my I.S.P -

Now my I.S.P. has gone , but I can access that page via other means (including ORCA) so there is no actual problem there -

I ran these items in this order (all items updated) MBAM / SAS / MSE / Dsk Chk / ComboFix /CCleaner / ATF Cleaner / Defrag / Disk Cleanup -

I can click on any item and it works but if I click (even in the forum) it will not let me write - - Fault is Only in IE -

The keyboard obviously works as I am using it now with ORCA , but I.E. will not even allow me to send an email -

Thanks -

I'm by no means an expert noknojon but here's the direct Microsoft link to downloading IE7 for XP if you're considering a repair/IE reinstall. The IE8 download link is at the bottom of that page.

A Microsoft link to obtain the XP SP3 download (and on cd) is here

And this link may be of help to you:

Hope this helps.

Sorry mate - Bottom line of question - Plus I am on it now and have been all the time - ;)

I could do most items off line (or on line with ORCA) but Not on line with IE -

The other odd item I just recalled is when I reboot , the Windows Firewall needs to be turned on each time - :)

Thanks Marcus -

I was running IE7 at the time - The only thing I don't understand is why the only thing I could not do was Write on line -

I could Read / Navigate / Click to Edit (HERE) / Click to Run programs / Do all the Diagnostics / etc, etc, -

IE8 is much better than IE7:

Stay Safer Online

The Internet has enhanced our lives in nearly every way. However, as more of the things we do every day depend on the Internet, online crime has risen in turn.

Windows 7 comes with IE8.

Thanks Mystery - That may work - I will give it a go later - :)

Midnight here - ;) Try it later -

Edit -

you may be unable to type in the text boxes (eg.. a Search engine or a Web site). These issues are caused by missing registry keys. To resolve the problem, try the following steps:

The cookies etc should go with SAS / CCleaner / ATF Cleaner / Defrag / Disk Cleanup , but the other items fit your fix -

That is the basic problem - Cannot type in Google box /Forums etc. -
