First time scan

Recommended Posts

I downloaded and installed Malwarebytes for the first time and ran a scan. 5 items came up in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Where can I get information to tell me if it is safe to delete these items, considering that they are in the Registry? For now, I accidently put them in the ignore list as oppose to the Quarantine list.

Welcome gilloz -

Can you access the ignore list from the tabs along the top of Malwarebytes face panel to tell me some of the items listed in there -

But first Update the program and then run a Quick Scan only -

Thank you -

Thank you for your response. Below is the listing I got the first time I ran the scan.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Ext\Settings\{4A7C84E2-E95C-43C6-8DD3-03ABCD0EB60E}

Hello gilloz: ;)

As an alternate to what noknojon has mentioned you can copy paste scan log that has this ignore list

Thank you, also for responding. I did just that in the reply above. I noticed that after I put the Infected items in the Ignore List, I got a clean bill of health. I just don't want to delete something that is in the registry for fear that it may render my computer useless or something.

Hello gilloz: I feel sorry to confirm your system is infected with SmartShopper Adware for sure. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself or depend on MBAM alone, just follow instructions in I'm infected - What do I do now? An expert will help you in cleaning process

Since you choose to ignore them in first scan that is why during subsequent scan MBAM gave a clean chit

Thanks. I copied and saved. I figured it out and deleted the items. Thanks again for your help.
