Error Code 732 (0,0)

Recommended Posts

My computer is running XP SP3 and IE7. My computer is infected with a fake AV alert. I installed the free version of Malwaybytes, but was unable to check for updates - I receive Error 732 (0,0). I deleted temporary Internet files and ran a quick scan which returned 729 items. I removed all of them. Reboote and tried to update again, no luck. I saw a posting in a forum that instructed me to go to control panel, Internet options, connections tab, LAN, then check the box to "automatically detect settings". Still no luck.

Anyone know of any other options?

For your benefit and others:

Disable the options "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script" in Internet Explorer.

To do this:

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Click "Tools," and then click "Internet Options."

3. Click "Connections," and then click "LAN Settings."

4. Make sure the check boxes for "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script" are not selected.

5. Apply changes & OK

Retry MBAM update once more. Tell us what the result is, with detail.

Actually, since version 1.45, these settings should no longer have any effect on our update process. ;)

The most common issue right now is hijacked DNS settings, and the fact that someone is still hosting a download of an outdated version of MBAM which can no longer update (you can spot this easily by the frequent 732 error codes).
