Black screen on HP HDX16t (Win 7 ultimate OS)

Recommended Posts

I was using p2p utorrent. suddenly Norton 360 informs me of an attack and says it's cleaned the system.

I tried to open explorer and it gave me an error message. I proceeded to restart computer hoping it will be fixed. (worst mistake). computer rebooted, logged on and there was a dark screen.

I proceeded to Ctrl +alt+ del, new task, explorer.exe, it gives me an error saying explorer cannot be found. did the same thing for control panel, it gave me the same error saying control panel cannot be found. I proceed to search for system restore.

i ran system restore based on my system state 3 days prior to the 18th, thought it will solve problem. no success, computer still boots into black screen.

downloaded malwarebytes, scanned system and found 12 viruses/trojan even when norton said there was no virus, removed the virus and rebooted still boots to balck screen.

can anyone help me out here, i really don't want to format as i have priceless data on my PC. i'm currently running a deep scan with norton in safemode to see what it finds.

a few posts have suggested this may be a registry issue. I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.

help!
