;)

On my laptop, my preinstalled webcam is Chicony camera assistant software for toshiba. So I had some problems with the MSN webcam, so i decided to uninstall my webcam, chicony camera assistant software for toshiba, and reinstall a fresh one. after i removed it using programs and features, i restarted and then installed a new one. but now when i open chicony webcam, I get an error message. and so i tried to uninstall THAT one and it says that it requires a restart, so when i restart, the files are still there! i tried to uninstall again but still the same thing happened. i tried to download it again but it doesnt allow me to install it, it just gives my modify, repair, remove, and when i try to repair, it freezes. what should i do? And why wont the setup work?

Never owned a webcam! From the looks of the pic you posted of the error. I would default the webcam to all default settings. It could be a setting in the laptop. Is it excluded in your AV & MBAM? I see on the website the drivers have been updated...Remove & Reinstall the drivers for it, or check the website! Or Rollback the drivers? You can post here: http://software.informer.com/forum/ Maybe someone else has a clue... good luck

here's where i downloaded it from. BTW, i do have a toshiba laptop. http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su...mp;x=4&y=10 its the one that is "Chicony Camera Assistant Software for Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64) ". it shows that it comes with everything, the Camera, Driver, and Utility. i dont think it's on the exclusions, but i will try to disable my anti-virus and MBAM pro. even when i try to repair it, the installation freezes and weird things happened. when i try to install it over it again, it wont let me because it already is installed. and for some reason, i run the uninstaller, after its done, it says u have to restart. so i restart and the files are still there! even the uninstaller is still there! and it wont let me even use the webcam! if u used chicony before, u would know that a traybar comes up, and after that if u try to view the webcam, properties, settings, the error pops-up!

Well I don't know if i'll be much help either (I have used a Logitech webcam in the past) but give me the exact model name, number, etc... for the webcam and I'll see if I can find any information or help regarding drivers, etc...

Did it come with an install CD though?

@ IDKWatMyDisplayNameShoudBe

You posted the link up at post #7... http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su...mp;x=4&y=10

Now point to Downloads, Laptops ,Choose Family, Choose Model , then under those 4 boxes type in: chicony camera assistant software or chicony camera assistant drivers

If your existing drivers now have been Corrupted in some way... The above would be the place to get them! I hope it solves your problem?

Thats about all I can think of unless you want to post on the Toshiba Laptop Forum: http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/

EDIT: this may be another place to post: http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/Drivers...brd_driver-util
