Error #732 (0,0)

Hi:

I was following your advice below BUT when I unchecked the 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)' I've got a warning from Windows-VISTA that by unchecking this Option, the System may become UNSTABLE - I therefore did NOT follow the rest of the advice below.

PLEASE ADVISE what to do.

Please do the following, choosing the instructions appropriate to the version of Windows you're using:

Show Hidden Files and Folders in Windows XP:

• Click Start and select My Computer
  
• Click the Tools item from the menu at the top of the window (if you don't see Tools press the Alt key on your keyboard and it will appear)
  
• Select Folder Options
  
• Click the View tab and make sure Show hidden files and folders is selected under Hidden files and folders
  
• Next, uncheck the box next to Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
  
• Then, uncheck the box next to Hide extensions for known filetypes
  
• Click Apply then click OK
  

Then go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and delete rules.ref. Once you've done that, start MBAM and when it shows the error and asks to update, let it do so and see if that corrects it.

Hello thorsak: It won't hurt unless you start playing around with these protected files. This advice came from exile360 one of our Experts, if I were you I'd have followed it!

As Error #732 is an older error from our older versions of Malwarebytes, you need to install a later version on your computer.....

Please try the following to see if it helps:

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

• Click on the Start button and select Control Panel
  
• Click on Programs and Features
  
• Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  
• Restart your computer very important
  
• Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  
• NOTE: If you get SHGetValue failed with error code 0, that only means that the tool has nothing to perform, continue on with the next step....
  
• It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  
• After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
  
  • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    
  • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
    Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.
