virus wont let me do ANYTHING!!

Recommended Posts

I've read a few of the forums here, I have a sony vaio running windows vista and I just got a vicious virus, it won't allow me to run malwarebytes, even re-downloading (can't run internet explorer, but firefox will work briefly) even after re-naming the malwarebytes file it still won't run. Basically I can do nothing on my pc and I can't follow the guides posted for help because I can't even do the first step (start-run-devmgmt.msc) please let me know if there is any help available out there.

i posted this elsewhere and they directed me here, i printed out the instructions they gave me and tried to follow them, when i downloaded mbam (as i mentioned earlier, i could use firefox breifly) everything went through the steps until it came time to open the program, the virus popped up a message saying malwarebytes is a virus and instructed me to delete it, i ignored this message and ttried again, and again downloading mbam, and changing the .exe file to my name, still no luck.

at this point i dont know what to do, i am at a work computer now, i downloaded the gmer rootkit, and can install to a zipdrive or disk to try and out it on the infected computerm but because of the work computers security settings it wont let me DL the defogger.

i will try anything im told when i get home, i will follow all instructions i can on the print-out guide, but in the meantime, if there is any further help you guys can offer i would greatly aprreciate it.

p.s. i ran malwarebytes in safe more and safe mode with networking, both times it found 3 infections, but they came back when i loaded in regular windows.

thanks in advance for any help you can offer. it is great that you guys offer this service.
