Virus caused explorer.exe to stop functioning, did Malwarebytes remove explorer.exe?

Recommended Posts

I recently caught a virus in my system and I promptly removed it. The virus was called Rootkit Dropper, and there was another Trojan virus.

After removing them in Malwarebytes, I was then asked to reboot, after rebooting I return to the desktop screen with no taskbar, or icons, just the desktop wallpaper. I can only bring up Task Manager and access things through that. I've tried numerous fixes that have been recommended online but none of them worked.

I searched for explorer.exe in my PC but I can only find it in Shell extention through regedit, and 'explorer.scf' in C:\WINDOWS.

Theres no sign of explorer.exe under processes either.

I tried ComboFix too and it said it restored WinLogon or something, yet the same issue persists.

Is it possible to recover explorer.exe from the quarantine tab in Malwarebytes? I had a look but couldn't see anything with 'explorer' in it.
