Several Questions about Malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded Malwarebytes. I have several questions concerning the program. I will be very thankful for all help.

Question 1- Can you pause a scan, turn off your computer, and pick up where you left off? if so how?

Question 2- Generally speaking how long should a quick scan take?

I am in quite a hurry so an immediate response would be appreciated Thanks again

Not sure why you would need to do question 1, but I do not think that can be done. I have seen quick scans that take as little as 45 seconds and as long as twenty minutes. It depends on the power of your pc and how many programs, files, infections, etc you have on your computer. On my two PC's the quick scan takes a little over two minutes on one and three minutes on the other.

On my current test box a quick scan takes about 55 seconds . Doing HJT forum research I see MBAM taking about 3 to 6 minutes usually . On the new machine I'm building a quick scan should be about 10 to 15 seconds .

Nice.

Not waiting for Nehalem to launch on the consumer side?

Question 2- Generally speaking how long should a quick scan take?

It goes quickly if you clean your temp files before running the scan. Try ATF Cleaner for an easy way to automate the process. And it does work in Windows Vista, they just don't list that in the description.

Not waiting for Nehalem to launch on the consumer side?

45nm core2 dual core@4.4 , ddr3 2000 (as fast as it will go without errors) and 4 velociraptors in raid 10 . Wanted to wait for the 20k raptors but between the wait and coast , not worth it .

I will build a new box again about a year after this one (hope solid state is better by then) . 4 cores wont help MBAM scan faster or windows to reboot faster so 2 cores as fast as possible is the way to go . The 45s can go way higher than 4.4 but with a good cooler , side off and in front of AC 4.4 should be rock stable .

I scan and reboot as many as 50 times a day so if I can cut 75% off of that it will get a lot of my time back . Time to install malware will go way down as well . All in all it will make my job way easier .
