Unable to Update

Recommended Posts

I already have MalwareBytes installed but I cannot update it as the instructions say to do. I get an Error Code 732 (0,0). I followed the instructions posted for this, but my LAN settings were already correct. The thread that I went to said to post this problem in the help section and I was directed to come here to post this.

I do not know how to get a hijack this log off of the infected computer now because this Wireshark Anti-Virus completely took over my computer in safemode with networking and I cannot get past their fake alerts and scans to do anything now.

Before this happened I had been able to run Malwarebytes without the updates, and several times it removed several things, however stuff kept coming back.

I also disabled remote access, changed the settings to show hidden files and folders, and disabled the proxy setting. I tried to delete the temporary internet files, but they seemed to keep coming back. After not being able to update, I unplugged the internet completely to keep porn windows from popping up on the desktop. This is just a nightmare.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello ,

And  My name is Elise and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

I will be working on your malware issues, this may or may not solve other issues you may have with your machine.

Please note that whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.

  • The cleaning process is not instant. Logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happen.
  • Please reply using the Add/Reply button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic.
  • The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply. Only attach them if requested or if they do not fit into the post.
  • Unfortunately, if I do not hear back from you within 5 days, I will be forced to close your topic. If you still need help after I have closed your topic, send me or a moderator a personal message with the address of the thread or feel free to create a new one.

You may want to keep the link to this topic in your favorites. Alternatively, you can click the button at the top bar of this topic and Track this Topic, where you can choose email notifications.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Note: If using Firefox right-click on any download links and choose Save As

Please download OTH to your desktop

Please download OTL to your desktop

Double click the OTH file to run it and click Kill All Processes, your desktop will go blank.

OTH_Main.gif

Then select Start OTL. OTL will now run

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

[*]Click the Internet Explorer button, post these logs in your Virus Removal topic.

Ok, I saved both to the desktop and when I double click them, I still get a page of gibberish?

Meanwhile I managed to get MalwareBytes updated by uninstalling and reinstalling. I ran a full scan in safe mode and just ran a second full scan in unsafe? Mode and this is the log:

It removed 3 things in unsafe? mode.

The one that was done in safe mode is not showing up in the log.

The virus seems to be gone, I am not getting any fake security warnings at all now. But I know that could change.

unsafe? Mode
We call that Normal mode. :( Its not unsafe, it means everything is loaded normally. In safe mode many things (like video drivers) are not loaded so it can be used easily for troubleshooting. Sometimes malware is prevented from loading in safe mode, thats why it can be handy to run a scan.

No need for OTH now, please run OTL as instructed below.

OTL

-----

Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:

[*]Save it to your desktop.

[*]Double click on the otlDesktopIcon.png icon on your desktop.

[*]Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.

[*]Push the runscanbutton.png button.

[*]Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:

  • OTListIt.txt <-- Will be opened
  • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
