Post Update error

Recommended Posts

I work as at a company that does IT contracting for several small businesses, many of which are Medical practices that use a program called ECW.

ECW being a common program for maintaining electronic medical records, their website can be found here: http://www.eclinicalworks.com/

Several of our clients are also using the mbam protection module and after this morning's database update they are getting errors when scanning into ecw.

The error is as follows:

mbamservice.exe Application popup

instruction at "0x1001fffe" referenced memory at "0x1005bbc8" the memory could not be read.

click ok to terminate the program or cancel to debug.

if you select ok then you get the message that malwarebytes has terminated unexpectedly, at which point the computer freezes and you can do nothing.

if you select cancel, then the computer freezes and you can do nothing on it.

The only way to get the computer to do anything at this point is to hard boot it.

After reboot, disabled the mbam service and rebooted a 2nd time and it fixed the issue. Obviously this is not a good solution as they are then without active virus protection.

Turning off the protection module without disabling the service does not fix the issue either, as the service is still running in the background.

Mbam is showing as version 1.46 still.

definitions dbase shows version 4389, date is today 8/4

I plan to contact ecw as well, but as the issue is specifically with the mbam service, I wanted to contact you first.

Any suggestions/directions you can suggest?
