IDKWatMNShouldBe Posted August 2, 2010 ID:294486 Share Posted August 2, 2010 Just asking, how's HitMan pro? How good is it? On YouTube, after Languy99 does a review, he scans with MBAM then HitMan pro. And sometimes HitMan pro still find some files that MBAM missed. noknojon Posted August 2, 2010 ID:294511 Share Posted August 2, 2010 My M.S.E. has found some items faster than MBAM - It always depends on the items from what I have observed -

And what do you mean by "You can do this all day long with any security tool. And what's to say what it detected were legit?" ??? you can do this with any security tool all day long??? And whats to say what it detected were legit???? why da **** would a known security tool start makin up detections on ur pc?? and "Hit Man Pro does not have any major reputation among the security community that I've ever seen or heard of." heres something interesting. http://www.surfright.nl/en/home/press/tdl3...-virus-programs

Also, for all we know the detections were benign obscure old or outdated detections. And what does one link prove that it remove TDSS variant? So do we and I'd lay money we'd get more variants too? Go to the major security forums and tell me what they tell you to run in virtually all cases before they break out the specialty tools, I can say unequivocally, it's not HitManPro.I'm more than happy to defend our product against unsubstantiated uneducated claims such as this. I'm certainly not worried about us losing any business to them on any level, regardless of how good you think they are.Bottom line is no security tool will detect all threats all the time. It's impossible to do, anyone laying claim to that is a flat out liar.

IDKWatMNShouldBe Posted August 31, 2010 Author ID:307472 Share Posted August 31, 2010 @TeMercu know, i was looking at some guy who had the TDL3 rootkit and he ran webroot, malwarebytes, emsisoft, and all of them failed. then he ran hitman pro and the only engine that detected it was dr.web, and dr.web is very good for malware removal, but not real-time... Wide_Glide Posted September 2, 2010 ID:308178 Share Posted September 2, 2010 @IDKYou learn how to help others online, so all studies and training is done with a computer(Online). They are all equally as good.Myself, I like Bleeping Computer, being I am familiar with it and what they do there. You will need to make posts there as stated. Just take your time and learn the site. If you do enroll I wish you the best.A lot can be learned there as here can be. RegardsWG

jemily Posted October 7, 2010 ID:324097 Share Posted October 7, 2010 I know this thread is a month old, but thought I could add my 2 cents. I had a nasty bug that was redirecting my search engine results other commercial sites. I did endless research and found A LOT of people had this same problem w/ a "Google Redirect Virus".I love malwarebytes - It's saved my ass on more than one occasion and routinely finds stuff that both Mcafee and Avira don't find. However in this case it was coming up empty. I saw that a lot of people had used Hitman Pro so I figured I should give it a try since literally nothing I had tried had been able to detect anything at all, yet I knew there was something messing w/ my system. Once I downloaded it, it scanned which took all of 5 minutes. It found a single virus that no other antivirus had detected, it deleted it and thank goodness I no longer have to deal with randomly redirecting links anymore. Anyway - malwarebytes is awesome, but in this particular case of the mysterious google redirect virus, Hitman pro did the trick.

jemily Posted October 15, 2010 ID:327412 Share Posted October 15, 2010 u should upload the file to MBAM that hitmanpro detectedHmmm. Not sure how to do that as, thankfully, Hitman Pro deleted the virus. But, here's the info from the history: Master Boot Record (Sector 0) BootkitC:$MBR If that means anything to you. Also, here's an article about this particular virus on HitmanPro:http://www.surfright.nl/en/home/press/64-b...le-for-rootkits

Now that I know what I had I'm amazed to see how huge this virus is...apparently it's a ginormous problem - google "TDL3 rootkit" and you get a heck of a lot of results. Hope this info helps! sg09 Posted October 15, 2010 ID:327529 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Both MBAM and HMP are awesome. I use both. Thankfully HMP is a on-demand scanner only. I wish there could be a lifetime license like MBAM.
desertdog Posted October 24, 2010 ID:333147 Share Posted October 24, 2010 I've been putting up with a browser redirect infection for about a month now. My problem affected both firefox and IE, and any links I clicked on in any search engine result, whether google, yahoo, would be redirected. I've tried a number of different things trying to get rid of it with only limited success but never able to get completely rid of it. My anti-virus software (AVG2011), malwarebytes, and other malware removal tools and online anti-virus scanneers including ESET, Housecall and others would usually find and remove something but never fix the problem. I ran across a discussion about Hitman Pro this morning, one I had never heard of before today, so I gave it a try. It found and removed a number of infections and I have not had a single page redirect since. It would be hard for me to recommend it as a fix-all for browser re-directs since this is my one and only experience with it but it did take care of my immediate problem after countless other utilities failed and at the moment I am pretty happy with it. IDKWatMNShouldBe Posted October 25, 2010 Author ID:333252 Share Posted October 25, 2010 hitmanpro is good at catching root kits because it has dr.web, which is good for removal.
Guest Danny:) Posted October 26, 2010 ID:334173 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Hitman Pro is one of the best second opinion scanner but its a cloud scanner, no connection with internet no scan. The Behavioural Scan in Hitman Pro is specialized in analyzing executable files, so called Portable Executables (PE). These are usually EXE, DLL and SYS files.Hitman Pro will not upload documents, pictures, etc. to the Scan Cloud.Im using Mbam Pro , Defensewall Hips and Hitman Pro
IDKWatMNShouldBe Posted October 28, 2010 Author ID:335107 Share Posted October 28, 2010 theres actually a way to scan ur whole C: drive with hitmanpro! But for sure i know that it would take hours for the scan to complete!
