Need some advice as updating not working and im a novice!!

hi i am a bit of a novice when it come to things like this so bear with me, i manually update my malware bytes and last two days have tried three times and it is getting to the end says 100% complete then says this MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING (404, 0, HTTP Status Code) now i have no idea what that means !! have googled it and its not coming up with anything, my dad would normally sort it out but hes away with work at the mo so any help would be greatly appreciated

that sounds lovely what you have written but a: i dont know what my operating system is, i work with kids so dont need computers and b: where would i find the location of how to exclude the things you said!!! i think you misread the novice bit but thanks for trying but i need it more in laymans terms than that!! also i would like to know why it worked before and doesnt work now! am still very confused!!

just read it again to see if it made anymore sense and it doesnt other than i can tell you i have avg and windows firewall and thats it if that helps
