Computer Freeze and won't restart

[RFHB]

Vista Home 32 bit hangs up during restart forcing a shutdown and safe mode reboot.....ntbtlog.txt shows driver @hal.inf.%acpiapic will not load along with a number of other drivers. HIJACK this log follows......trying to determine if PC is infected or has HW/SW issues. With my luck it is all. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thx Borislav,

I ran malwarebytes and had nothing infected. I also ran ESET Security from my desk top and the online scanner and had nothing infected. I ran chkdsk with the repair/recovery options and the computer booted up fine and the monitor ws not put to sleep/computer freeze. So I thought all was well. I deleted a number of programs (HP Games, Bonjour, Online Services) as I was tired of waiting for them to scan every time I checked my system. When I rebooted the display was put to sleep and computer froze before completing loading the desktop. I reran chcdsk with the recovery/repair options and the computer is working again but clearly there is a lack of stability. Based on these facts do you recommend I implement your directions above. Thx for the help.
