slow scan of selected file

Recommended Posts

When I right click on a file or folder, and select scan with malwarebytes, it takes 40 to 60 seconds for the program to open and start the scan. The actual scan seems to be timely. How can I eliminate this annoying delay? Thanks, esmo.

Hi esmo -

I just scanned 3 files apart from each other (one was another antimalware program) -

Each scan started within less than 10 seconds and the scan lasted a few seconds - I have included one here , it started in 7 seconds and it took 3 seconds to scan -

Do you update most times and do you have the current version ?? Version 4345 is current -

The other problems may include a build up of temp files and a fragmented system - Do you have CCleaner or similar installed ?

Do you think you may have been recently infected ??

Please let me know the answers to any of these items

Thank You -

EDIT -

Can you also please list your Antivirus , Firewall , and your Operating System (XP Vista Win7)

Thanks for the speedy answer. I am running xp pro sp3, automatic updates. In addition to malwarebytes I have super anti spyware, Iobit security 360, advanced system care pro, and spybot. My defragger runs in the background all the time, I use ccleaner several time a week, and I have some other programs which run daily and check registry, clean unneeded files and do fast antimalware checks. My update version is 4345. I just did a malware scan and came up clean. I thought I had all the bases covered, but it seems I am missing something.

Hi Again -

You may expect me to say this but ....... - The first program I would delete is the Iobit program (even though it may be paid version) -

I would install a decent antivirus , even Microsoft Security Essentials I find is well above Iobit programs - (My opinion only) - It is free , runs all the time and auto updates every day without any problems - You can also use the Defraggler that is listed in my live signature -

Just for 1 week lose the Iobit and try MSE (a live link in my signature) then see if it improves a little bit -

You can reinstall it if there is no change to the system , but I think it would be a good start -

Item 15 on This Page will clean the Iobit fully for you -If there is no change then reinstall Iobit and we will look for another problem -

Also check if there is any other programs (Spybot S&D for one) that you never use any more that can be removed -

Thank You -
