MBAM scanned but Antimalware Doctor is STILL there- and more problems

Recommended Posts

So I'm not sure of the correct place to post this but my system was infected with malware- Antimalware Doctor and Antivir. Maybe even more??

I installed Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and although it installed fine, it would not open for the life of it. Basically i'm guessing the malware prevented it from opening because it kept showing erros like mbam.exe can't open, in addition to the frequent wuauclt.exe can't open (which i'm not really sure what that is). I can't open ANY anti-virus software (like Avira as recommended by this site or McAfee which I also tried to download but won't run). I also installed HJT as recommended by this forum but that won't open either.

I finally read something here that suggested renaming mbam as iexplore.exe (ingenious)-- it worked!! i.e., an hour later it FINALLY starting running..

After an hour, it finally completed the scan and found 12 threats... I think it said some things couldnt be removed? but it said I had to reboot the system after... and when i did, antimalware doctor was STILL there... i had all these warning messages pop up from that. I'm running another scan again. But that might take another hour... I would like this removed ASAP without having to repeat scans over and over again so if you have any other suggestions I would really appreciate it. I have a log of the 1st scan... if that needs to be posted, I can provide that.

That aside, I also read something about running process explorer which i also installed and ran after renaming it iexplore.exe and I killed the process that I think referred to Antivir Solutions Pro... it wasn't labeled that but whatever the mumbo-jumbo was written as a file name, there was the 3 colored boxes icon(orange, blue, green) in front of it so I assumed it was Antivir remembering what I had read on this forum and killed it... hopefully it was right. The number of warnings has seemed to decrease so I think that malware may really have been killed but the antimalware doctor is still popping up; I can't find the shield icon under processexplorer to kill it--- any other ways it's referred to??

I'm not sure what else to do at this point. I ran Avira, the antivirus software recommended on this forum but it said no threats/viruses found :??

Please please please help!!!! I have literally been at my computer for 3 hours now and am utterly exhausted and frustrated. Basically, nothing seems to open without ridiculous amounts of warnings popping up. Before I killed Antivir, NOTHING would open at all unless I renamed it. Now, I tried opening Skype for example (just randomly picked something on my desktop) and it opened but was preceded by warnings through Antimalware Doctor.

Thanks in advance for your time and help :D

Not to keep spamming but the second scan I was running (via MBAM) finally finished... it clearly didn't detect the Antimalware Doctor since the result was that No threats were found. The first time it found 12 and as mentioned in my previous post, I deleted those and restarted the system as directed. Then, I noticed Antimalware Doc still running on my computer (ridiculous amounts of pop up regarding threats though after reading on some forum, I took it off startup via msconfig and since then a sign that says "cannot make a visible windows modal" pops up and occasionally a balloon off the task bar that says "antimalware doc is turned off"--- but it's still there of course!).....

.....so I decided to run Malwarebytes again and an hour and half later, basically everything was an all clear. How do I get rid of the Antimalware Doctor if Malwarebytes Anti-Malware won't pick it up as that seems to be the solution to resolving this? I feel like fixing this will resolve the problems I have in opening other programs.

I also finished a full system scan via Avira and it found 5 threats all of which I deleted... but of course, the Antimal Doc is still there.

ANY help would be highly appreciated!!

Thanks-
