Guest dj44 Posted July 13, 2010 ID:283454 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Hi can anyone please help me, I have a Sony Vaio that runs on windows XP with AVG as my protection which im pretty sure is the latest version and up to date. The problem started a few weeks back when i was searching for some vehicle parts and i hit a link that shot off somewhere it shouldnt have and I ended up at a German site with a yes no pop up pane. I could not read what was written above the yes/no as it was in German so i just kept on clicking the red cross close icon. Everytime i did so another pane would open but the text would be different (which i still couldnt understand) until the last one which simply read hahahaha!! I ended up closing explorer using ctrl-alt-delete and ending task. As soon as i did this what looked like an AVG warning came up telling me i had been infected by malware (1st time i had heard of it) and asked me if i wanted it removed so i clicked yes. Anyway this did not apear to work so i ran a full scan, deleted all internet history and cookies etc but the AVG seemed to be infected and doing strange things by creating new rules and telling me about all sorts of infections. Then i lost all internet access but could still send a recieve emails from Outlook. I used another computer to do some malare reserch and found that by resetting my internet settings it got me back on line. I have since downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spyware Doctor and Spybot Search and Destroy. All seem to be up to date and i have run them all incliuding full AVG scans in both safe mode as well as normal. Everyone of them picked certain things up at 1st which i removed but now they cannot find anything in either mode but all of a sudden i have lost all internet connection including Outlook through both wireless and cable and my blue tooth mouse has also stopped working!! I am gettting lots of cookie threat warnings from AVG now which it will not let me remove and it is now telling me that my anti virus, anti spyware and link scanner are outdated. I have also reset all my internet passwords and log on code as advised but still no joy.I know this is long winded but i thought it best to give the full turn of avents leading to where i am at now. Can anyone please help me and give me some direction other than putting the laptop in the bin. Many thanks and kind regards,David.
Wide_Glide Posted July 13, 2010 ID:283509 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Hello dj44 and I suggest letting one of the Experts have a look at it to start the cleaning process. It is a FREE serviceAs we don't work on Malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum as it is for issues with the program itself, only in the Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs sectionPlease read and follow the Directions Here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW Topic HereOne of the Expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If no one has replied within 48 hours then please go ahead and either reply to your post or send a private message to a Moderator and let them know that you're still needing assistance.Logs to reply with:(If possible)MBAM DDS/GMERIf you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.
