AV Security Suite Virus

My son's computer has been infected with the AV Security Suite Virus. He downloaded Malwarebytes FREE version and apparently it removed the virus but he is having problems. The computer will connect to the net, instant messengers will connect and function, but the browser will not open any site. I can't find the problem. Any idea what the problem is and how to correct it?
