Hi there. Hope this is the right place to post.

Anyway malware bytes detected 2 threats smss.exe and services.exe as trojan.cycler in "c:\system volume information\microsoft" and is unable to remove. Anyway did the latest update today and it now detects 2 threats smss.exe and services.exe in "c:\system volume information\microsoft" and the same 2 files again as memory processes. so 4 threats toatal. However mbam is still failing to remove these files on reboot.

Please follow the steps here to repair the Master boot record in XP:

Once that one is repaired (since you are dealing with a variant of the Stoned Bootkit), mbam should be able to deal with the leftovers without them returning again.
