It is simply hidden which many want and many don't want. It's only a preference. Take a look here on setting it to show you the extension.

well i just tried this and it didnt really do much... is thier any other solution other then system restore? BTW i also have teamveiwer....

This works in Vista so not sure about Win 7

Click Start>Default Programs>Associate a file type with a program

Scroll down until you find the .ddl file listing and see what program it is set to open with. Default is notepad(Vista). To change, click to highlight and in upper right click change program

If it has been changed from the default(Notepad in Vista) here is where you can set it back right

Or have I miss read the Question :D
