Quarantined HKLM Software Security Center

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

I am a new Malwarebytes' user. I just downloaded the program yesterday. If I am asking this question in the wrong forum - I apologize.

Question - if malware is quarantined in SuperAntiSpyware will it show up in a scan by Malwarebytes'?

I performed a full scan on my computer with SuperAntiSpyware a couple of days ago and the scan indicated I needed to quarantine a couple of items:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Security Center #Antivirus Disable Notify

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Security Center #Firewall Disable Notify

Note: I have not been having any difficulties with my computer - no popups to purchase or anything like that

I looked at the Security Center in Control Panel and it indicates that all protection is on and that I am using a Charter Security Suite for my anti-virus and firewall.

I don't want to delete the quarantined items in SuperAntiSpyware until I am sure that it is safe to do so.

Hope you can help me so I don't do some horrible thing I can't undue.

Appreciate your help.

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes....

Question - if malware is quarantined in SuperAntiSpyware will it show up in a scan by Malwarebytes'?

SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes are two different products and both use their own databases for detection of Malware. These two programs do not share the same database so I guess the answer is no.

As for the items that were detected, it is safe for you to just add those two items to the ignore list. As you are using Charter Security Suite for my anti-virus and firewall, more than likely that software made these changes to this Key.

If you were to remove them, it should not cause any harm to your computer as well. If you do remove them, they would be listed in the quarantine folder and you could always restore them.

Hope this helps you.....
