IE8 Redirect Malware issue

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am having problems trying to identify infected files and remove some redirect Malware which is affecting IE8 and google searches.

This first started with very random and occasional searches being redircted... and the word redirect showing up in the address bar and IE history.

There was a day when I continually got some pop ups, but this was probably unrelated as its now stopped, after running multiple virus scans.

I tried the usual scans, which didnt pick anything up, but did seem to slow the issues I was having. I could continue searching google with some success.

Now it seems to have gotten worse. all the search results link to additional pages, or return a cannot be displayed error. When running a search for more malware removal options, the results links wont load, and even typing in the addresses directly into the address bar doesnt seem to work, still get the cannot be displayed page.

I have read about TDSSkiller, which didnt find anything on my PC. I read that ComboFix can in some cases remove these problems without any further consultation. I tried running ComboFix yesterday, but ran into trouble when my computer blue screened.

Ive disconnected the computer from my network and am trying to run ComboFix through again to get a log file.

ComboFix runs through all 50 stages.

The computer blue screens whilst trying to write the log file.

There's no whole, or partial, log file on restart.

Hijackthis gave me this:

All seemed good. Blocked websites worked again, Google searches were fine.

Then suddenly its back. Windows/Microsoft sites and most Forum websites are all blocked again, returning a cannot display/check internet connection error.

This is particularly frustrating. I'd appreciate any help with the issue
