Was infected w. "Avsuite" virus

Recommended Posts

I was infected by it & did cleaning w/ this site's software. I'm not sure if I got it all though. My laptop is still a little sluggish.

I'm also not sure if my previous firewall (Comodo) is still installed.

Here's my log:

Welcome to the forum.

You're using an old version of HJT, can you uninstall it from your control panels add/remove programs if listed or just delete the program.

Download the latest version.

You can download the HJT installer HERE:

Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis . Click on Install. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad. Save the log to a convenient location.

Copy and paste it into your post.

OK, lots of "junk" showing in the log...please do this:

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

-------------------------------------

Clean out temp files:

Download TFC to your desktop, it will clean out all the temp files on your system.

Open the file and close any other windows.

It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.

Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job

Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

------------------------------------

Lets check you security programs:

Download Security Check by screen317 from HERE or HERE.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document. and a fresh HJT log
