False positive IP block

Dynamic Net

Recommended Posts

Greetings:

We received a new IP block from our data center for use with virtual machines that we are setting up.

I assigned 174.36.243.170 to a new VM, and when I try to ssh (TCP 22) to the machine, Malwarebytes blocks the IP stating it is protecting me.

I would like to know why the IP is blocked along with knowing if it is in a range of blocked IP's, what is the range. That way I can work with the data center to clean up any dirty IP issues.

Thank you.

The IP is blocked because it is on a SoftLayer IP range, an ISP with a history of housing badness. Incidentally, the only site I'm seeing on this IP is p2p-net.eu (redirecting me to an install page that is presenting an error, leaving me unable to check it, but if memory serves, it was well known for warez).

Alot more data than could be posted here, and alot that cannot be posted here for legal reasons (i.e. this specific /24 is housing underage pornography).

We don't actually however, have their entire DC blacklisted, just certain parts of it.
