Mediafire virus?

Recommended Posts

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Whenever I go to the main download page for mediafire and click on the link to download something malwarebytes pops up saying that it blocked a potentially dangerous IP from accessing my computer.

Does this mean the virus is coming through mediafire or does it mean there's a trojan hiding on my machine that tries to launch whenever I access the mediafire page? I've run Malwarebytes and it says my system is clean. I couldn't find anything on the web about it. I figured if it was happening to me then it must be happening to others.

Thanks in advance.

Hi -

Mediafire is basically a P2P (peer to peer) file shareing program - As such the content will be always totally unknown to you -

There will always be an opening on these programs for infections to be placed in there without anybody knowing -

If you choose to use this program chances are you will soon end up with some type of infection -

If you do not care about that there is always a way around this -

How can I add an IP so it won't be detected and can access a site I need to?

Visit the site and incur an IP block. Then right-click on the Malwarebytes system-tray icon after the block notification appears, and choose Add to Ignore List.

This is the easiest method , but it will not give the ideal result as there may still be infections on that site -

The choice is yours (like Limewire music site etc.) that you have access but you have upped your risk of infections -

Thank You -
