thanatos Posted July 19, 2008 ID:23200 Share Posted July 19, 2008 I couldn't perform a quick scan. Tried 3 times, MBAM will freeze after 5-10 secs on a random system32 dll file and then MBAM won't close either, it just hangs.Only way out, the reboot button.I think it has sth to do with direct disk access.OS: Vista Business SP1

thanatos Posted July 19, 2008 ID:23204 Share Posted July 19, 2008 Windows Defender and Dr.WEB, but I disabled both just to make it sure. Are there any command line parameters to do a quick scan with direct disk access off or is it built in? Just to make it sure if it is the cause.1.20 was working fine, so it was sth in the step to 1.21.

File was C:\Windows\Help\hsc.ink. Any ideas? No idea what that is Tigger', it may be a possible HP printer related but not absolutely sure. Did MBAM quarantine it? if so restore it to a USB stick if you can or just back to its location and upload it for testing then zap it again with MBAM. All I can think off to do I'm afraid . sho-dan Posted July 19, 2008 ID:23216 Share Posted July 19, 2008 Hello MarcinVista SP1 32bitFresh install of Ver 1.21. Quick/Full scan works in safe mode(no problems), in normal mode the Q/F scans freeze/not responding to the button options need to re-boot to close program. I removed the file at the not responding point, rescan and it was'nt the problem. Disconnected from the net, all security programs are disabled when scaning. So far, it looks like its only affecting Vista OS.On XP there are no problems or errors to report while scanning in Q/F scan.

Tarnak Posted July 19, 2008 ID:23225 Share Posted July 19, 2008 Just curious, but I noticed it appears MBAMCatchme has been replaced by MBAMSwissArmy! Is it a change of name only, or something else?
Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted July 19, 2008 Author Root Admin ID:23228 Share Posted July 19, 2008 Yes, SwissArmy is our new driver.I am looking into the random freezes. Just because the program is displaying a file it is scanning, does not mean that is the actual file it is scanning. It only shows every few files it scans (for speed reasons). Lu Chin Posted July 19, 2008 ID:23232 Share Posted July 19, 2008 I tried this build but I still could not register because of the old bug where the registration info would not be stored in the Windows registry correctly if inside Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced (tab) -> Language for non-Unicode programs was set to Traditional or Simplified Chinese. Ever since I bought my MBAM license I had never been able to keep any build registered. Once I exited MBAM and ran it again it became unregistered.Thanks. ihatespam Posted July 19, 2008 ID:23244 Share Posted July 19, 2008 FYI, I encountered the Code5 error message when attempting to upgrade to v1.21 via the internal program updater. This is the second version update out of the last three wherein I have been unable to update via the updater. v1.20 worked okay, but v1.19 & 1.21 produced Code5 errors that required that I uninstall the existing version, then install the new.But I wasn't so lucky. My laptop updated via the internal updater without any problems but I encountered the Code 5 error message when installing from a new .exe file on my main PC. I uninstalled and re-installed but got the same error. I rebooted and no change. I also tried installing v1.20 but couldn't get that to install either, it had previously been running on my PC since the day you released it. I also tried a partial install of v1.20, that is ignoring the Code 5 errors, and then tried to update via the internal updater but that didn't work either. I'm running XP SP3 on both PCs.It's now uninstalled pending suggestions on how I can install without the Code 5 errors.
