Malwarebytes + McAfee can't find malware, pls advise

Recommended Posts

Good Morning Experts!

My laptop is practically unusable, due to some kind of infection (according to Dell Support who downloaded Malwarebytes for me). But Malwarebytes and McAfee both, duly updated, after a full scan, find nothing.

Laptop runs OK in 'safe mode with networking'. But when booted into normal mode, it's almost impossible to open and save a file, explore to a file, run a program... I get popup errors such as 'can't find system resources'... will try to download HijackThis as it appears to be popular on this forum. In the tray to the right, I see TWO icons for networks, frozen on acquiring an IP address... where I usually just see one for my Wifi.

Will be happy to pay for MalwareBytes, if there's someone listening up there, and I know that there's support, and that they'll add a detection for whatever this is that I have, that's so good at evading detection.

Thanks!

Hello Portalguy and welcome to Malwarebytes forums.

If Normal Windows mode is unuseable at this time, restart the system and tap F8 to get Advanced Boot Options, and select Safe Mode With Networking.

We cannot help you in this sub-forum to look for and remove malwares.

Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Please post there Gmer.txt log

the DDS logs

Don't post your logs here.

We use DDS as the first-line report tool, not Hijackthis (though it may be used later).
