How to run Malwarebytes without internet access?

Recommended Posts

Please help - our laptop has been infected with BankerFox.A and Win32?Nuqel.E and the Malwarebytes program already on the laptop apparently had not been updated. We are no longer able to get on the internet (even in Safemode) on that computer. Is it possible to download Malwarebytes (from our uninfected PC) onto a thumb drive or CD to run the program on our infected laptop? Please advise as soon as possible.

Thank you!

mary

Dear mary,

Yes, you can do so. Better to burn it in a CD and transfer to the infected one. Remember to do what mountaintree16 told you to do (especially the link that tells you how to update the database!)

Just in case if you cannot cure that system and need assistance for free -

As we don't work on Malware removal or diagnostics in this forum, please follow the directions below.

  • Please print out, read, and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.
  • One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.
  • After posting your new topic, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options (prefer Immediate Email Notification) so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.
  • Please be patient when waiting for an expert help as the expert helpers can get a bit busy.
  • Please try not to post back (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours. Expert helpers will find the topics which has a zero post count first. By doing so, expert helpers may think the topic is replied and jump to other posts.
If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply the topic for asking help again or send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance.
  • Please do not alter the system (eg install or uninstall any software/ conduct some fixes) after posting unless it is told by the expert helper.Altering the system makes the expert more complicated about the picture of your system.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here. Please remember to quote your cleverbridge Reference Number from the confirmation e-mail when requesting assistance.

Please post back if you have further questions.

Thank You :)

To add onto what gtyhfy said, if you would first like to try to run Mbam on the infected system, burn the Mbam setup to CD if you are able to (name it something like mjvh.com or something when downloading (instead of run, hit save when the file begins its download and then you can choose what you'd like to name the file). Otherwise, you may transfer to a flash drive instead.

Then, please follow Issue #4 at this link here:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=49525

If you need any assistance with that, I will do my best to help you out :) If you do need assistance with that, please tell me what your OS is (XP, Vista, 7).

If any issues remain after running Mbam or if you can't get Mbam to run still, please follow gtyhfy's directions above :)

As a side note, please use the "ADD REPLY" t_reply.gif button located at the bottom of the page when replying.

Thanks :)
