No longer have WIFI and Bluetooth

Recommended Posts

Hello... hope you can help.

I have a Dell Studio Laptop 1537 running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 that was infected with malware.

I downloaded Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware on another computer, and transferred it to my laptop via my mp3 flash drive.

Installing Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware was prohibited by the malware infestation. But I was able to open and install it in safe mode though, but was unable to update it.

I ran Malwarebytes (full scan) in safe mode and it found the following:

Registry Keys Infected:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\avsuite (Rogue.AntivirusSuite) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\avsoft (Trojan.Fraudpack) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Registry Values Infected:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\snymsehm (Rogue.AntivirusSuite.Gen) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully

Files Infected:

C:\Users\Don\AppData\Local\gynxicvvr\hivgqcgtssd.exe (Rogue.AntivirusSuite.Gen) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

I rebooted to full windows. The popups were gone. However, I no longer had my wifi or bluetooth (is Bluetooth known as "infrared"?)

I ran a quickscan with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. Nothing found.

The next day, I connected to my broadband cable. I updated Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and ran another full scan. Results:

Files Infected:

C:\Users\Don\AppData\Local\Temp\b925984b.exe (Trojan.Dropper) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Right now, the WiFi shows up in System Information as "Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN"; I am unsure about what my Bluetooth is called or where it should be found. The only network connections that show up in Device Manager under Network adapters is my broadband (cable), "Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet".

I posted this problem in the PC problems section and was given a link to "I'm infected -- what do I do now?". I followed the directions and decided to start from scratch. So I deleted Malwarebytes via the folders uninstall file. I uploaded the Malwarebytes install program to my laptop via a usb flash drive, renamed it "iexplore.exe", opened and installed it, and, after a quite a few attempts, was able to update it.

I then ran a quick scan: "No malicious items detected". I did a full scan: No malicious items detected. Ran Avast, nothing found. Maybe it was hijacked?? Here are some past Avast log info since the infection:

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. Looks like I'm clean, but I need is to know how/why the malware prevented/prevents my computer from knowing there is WiFi and Bluetooth... and how to get it back. What's the next step to achieve this? ANY help will be greatly appreciated. ;)
