Hi,

I had a virus called Protection Center and had it succesfully removed through Malwarebytes. After restarting my laptop I was unable to open any program through shortcuts. However I can open the programs through going to drive C and opening the folders. But when I try to do it through the desktop shortcuts or through the start menu a window opens saying "open with". I even can't open "regedit".

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THAT I AM REALLY DESPERATE AND AFRAID THAT I DESTROYED EVERYTHING ON MY LAPTOP!

Best,

Puya

Hello hani, :P:)

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums.

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

If you are a corporate customer please send an email to corporate-support@malwarebytes.org. (NOTE: An order number is required for corporate support.)

Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Thank you :)

Hi thank you for your reply.

The procedures described are to remove the virus which I already did. I don't have the virus anymore since I removed it through Malwarebytes. My problem resulted AFTER running malwarebytes and removing the virus.

What should I do about that?

Thank you.

@ hani

On the safe side, checking whether there are some remaining malware files/changes is good to ensure your laptop is clean apart from unblocking the use of the registry editor.

Please wait for the instruction of an expert at your topic at the malware removal froum here. Meanwhile, remember to track that topic by making sure under options at the top of the topic, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

What Firefox wants you to do, I suppose, is the instructions of running DDS and GMER (after running DeFogger) to get the logs posted. The instruction there, after the part of cleaning, is to get a "screenshot" of the computer at the time of running those tools, but not to cure the computer.

@ noknojon, firefox

The member has already posted his/her problem in the HJT forum (topic here), so instead of asking the member to do somthing, the most important thing for him/her is to wait for the first set of instructions from an expert :P

Edit - correct typo, adding information.
