Virus vs other malwares

Products like MBAM & SAS claim to remove all kinds of stuff ranging from Trojans to Rootkits,from Worms to Adware but never Viruses.My question is if these programs can remove all kinds of other stuff why not viruses?Does Virus removal require a completly different program designing & approach as opposed to all other malware?

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware does detect some viruses, but our focus is on the threats that the majority of antivirus softwares either fail to detect, fail to remove, or both, regardless of what type of infection it is.

Targeting only the latest, nastiest threats allows our researchers the flexibility to focus only on what others are missing, thus enabling us to rapidly react to new threats as well as create heuristic methods of detecting new variants often before they are even released in the wild.

How do we know what to submit?

if we find a virus that, say, Norton and McAfee do not detect and Malwarebytes does not detect, can we still submit it?
