XP unmountable_boot_volume

Recommended Posts

I installed and ran a scan on my XP sp2 PC several weeks ago, it ran OK and the PC tested clean. Today I ran it for the second time, and several minutes into the scan, Blue screen, XP unmountable_boot_volume, 0x000000ED(ox8237ab98,........ It will reboot to the recovery options safemode, command prompt, last good config etc. None of these work, they will just give the XP logo graphic screen, then goes into the original Blue screen no boot screen. Can some one please advise or assist me on how to proceed now? I have searched for similar posts, but they don't seem to apply.

Thank you all for reading this, and hopefully helping.

(I'm really in the dog house since this is on my wifes PC)
